Transmutation: Shifting Hand

The simplest ranking system of all the schools, every month official bank statements are issued, individuals are ranked based on how much money they have made and donated to the Arcane coalition. an individual can not donate more than 80% of there monthly earnings to the coalition. The top 5 earners form the Economic Coalition Council, the members of this change almost monthly, however if a member can hold the number 1 spot for 5 straight months, even if it just by a single copper they become the schools Grand Council Representative. As long as no one else hold the number 1 spot for 5 months this individual could remain as council representative until they retire or die.

Divination: Radiant Hand

The Radiant hand does not have a ranking system. This is because if they had a ranking system it would cause political issue to arise between those of higher rank distracting them from the pursuit of knowledge. There is a administrative branch of the Radiant hand that is generally in charge of financial decision though the shifting hand handles the majority of financial related issues in exchange for being able to sell new discoveries by the members of the radiant hand. Instead of ranks there are callings that individuals pursue. interdisciplinary efforts are highly encouraged. Those who lead teams consisting of all types of callings are unofficial recognized as “sages”. The 3 reconsidered Callings are:

Scholars: Deal mostly with secular matters “why is the sky blue, why is the grass green, whats grass?” are examples of question they ask and pursue answers to.

Priest: Deal with divine/supernatural matters, “does a soul survive after death, how does it survive, what are demons and devils and things that go bump in the night”are examples of question they ask and pursue answers to.

Sear: Studies magic, “how does fire magic not burn the user, can weather magic be used to stop an impending storm”are examples of question they ask and pursue answers to.

Enchantment: Controlling Hand

The Controlling hand is not so much concerned with ranks as individuals accomplishments. There are several denominations this falls into:

Unknown: new member, less than 1 year in the school

Known: At least 1 of the Renowned or 5 Recognized rank individuals must acknowledge you within a year to earn this rank, if an individual has not produced results by this time they are considered to be useless and unable to contribute to the school, they are asked to leave or kicked out.

Recognized: Have 5 Renowned members or an individual of the Forum recognize you. There is no time limit but those who take longer than others are generally looked down upon by their more accomplished peers.

Renowned: have 80% of the current Renowned individuals acknowledge you. As with Recognized the longer it takes to achieve this the more you are looked down on.

Evocation:

The four sub schools of evocation have similar internal ranking systems of 7 total ranks. In each school the first two ranks are considered “recruits” and it is common, but not required, for those of that rank to ware an orange shoulder band. The middle two ranks are considered “members” and usually can be found with a red shoulder band. The 5th and 6th ranks are considered “masters” and are addressed as such by the lower ranks. They are identified either by a gold shoulder band or more commonly their face is simply known to the members of the schools. The 7th rank is reserved for only mages of legendary strength. They carry immense prestige and are the most influential members of their respective schools. They are however bard from entering the 7 year tournament that decides the Evocations school Grand Councils representative, simply because if they entered all other applicants would be wasting their time and a battle between two individuals of this rank would most likely result in the destruction of the school tournament grounds.
